I have worked in the Adams 12 School district since 1994. At that time I was a Lunchroom monitor at Mountain View Elementary. This position was a temporary position so the next year I decided to become a classified substitute. The next position I accepted was a lunchroom/recess monitor at Westview Elementary. I worked at that position for about a year, when at that time a position in the workroom became available. I worked in the workroom and did recess for several years. I took on many other responsibilities which included, CLIP coverage, reading groups, staffing coverage, PSP Positive Behavior Support Coordinator. I was also the classified representative for Westview Elementary for the Classified Association.
I was nominated for classified person of the year in 2008. I have taken many classes through the district throughout the years to improve my knowledge and skills. These classes have ranged from how to teach children to read to Spanish. I have taken the para pro class which is the equivalent to an Associates degree in education. I then applied my skills and knowledge to becoming a kindergarten para. I worked at Westview Elementary for four years as a kindergarten para and the last 2 ½ years here at Tarver Elementary in the all day kindergarten classroom. I truly love the job I do, seeing a young mind grow and learn is simply amazing and rewarding. It gives me great joy to touch children's lives.
