Having been a teacher librarian for over a decade at Tarver and almost as long at Hunters Glen Elementary, have been absolutely rewarding and uplifting. For the past eleven years I have split my time with both schools and love the students and community of each one. As of last year my position as a Teacher Librarian is being transitioned into that of a Digitial Literacy Partner. I will still continue to instruct students on Information Literacy Standards and how to use both print and digital resoures, but will also co-teach lessons that will integrate techology and Digital Literacy Standards. I also love to see the students excited to come to the library and see their true enjoyment of reading. I always welcome new book suggestions from students, staff and parents.
Digital literacy, technology, and digital citizenship are a passion of mine, in which I am responsible for integrating into the curriculum. Keeping students and teachers informed of the new and innovative advances of the 21st century is a challenge, but one I welcome and enjoy. I am the Building Tech Coordinator in my building which requires knowledge of variety of technological updates and issues.
This my 22nd year of teaching, I was formerly a high school and middle school English teacher in District 12. I have a Master of Arts in Information and Learning Technologies from the University of Colorado. As an alumni of District 12, I attended school within the District for all my K-12 years. Outside of work, I have two intelligent, charming grown daughters in colllege and a loving supportive husband that is also a teacher in the District. We all enjoy traveling and spending as much time together as a family in the summer, hiking, golfing, water sports, and backyard evenings on our patios.
Today's students are digital natives and they all have a natural curiosity about the world. I am here to support your child navigate the digital world, safely, responsibly and ethically to learn and become successful and leaders of tomorrow. I am happy to serve the community and share my knowledge and skills with others. If you have questions about library materials, reading materials (both print and digital), technology integration at school, and digital citizenship, please don't hestitate to contact me using the email listed in my profile above.
