I am very excited to be a part of the Tarver Elementary staff as the Social Emotional Learning Specialist.
This is my 27th year in public education. I have worked with students grades kindergarten through high school in both Adams 12 and Brighton 27-J as an elementary classroom teacher, elementary counselor, high school counselor, and now social emotional learning specialist. I have a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Elementary Education and a Minor in Psychology and a Masters Degree in School Counseling K-12, all from the University of Northern Colorado.
In my role of Social Emotional Learning Specialist, I will be working on building school-wide culture and climate, coaching and partnering with teachers to support student social emotional learning needs, and working with students to identify and support their strengths and needs, such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
I have an 8th grade daughter who is a student at Century Middle School. She also attended Tarver grades K-5. I've been married for 22 years. My husband is a math teacher at Legacy High School. I spend a lot of time driving my daughter to and from the dance studio and enjoy visiting thrift stores and reading in my free time. I love this community and school with my whole heart. I believe in BALANCE and PERSPECTIVE and try to remember this everyday.
