I am very excited to be a part of the Tarver Elementary staff as the Social Emotional Learning Specialist.
This is my 25th year in public education. I have worked with students grades kindergarten through high school as an elementary classroom teacher, elementary counselor, and high school counselor. I have a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Elementary Education and a Minor in Psychology and a Masters Degree in School Counseling K-12, both from the University of Northern Colorado.
In my role of Social Emotional Learning Specialist, I will be working on building school-wide culture and climate, coaching and partnering with teachers to support student social emotional learning needs, and working with students to identify and support their strengths and needs, such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
I have a seventh grade daughter who is a student at Century Middle School. She also attended Tarver grades K-5. My husband is a math teacher at Legacy High School. I spend a lot of time driving my daughter to and from the dance studio and enjoy squeezing in reading, crafting, very slow running, and a good Netflix show when I can. I love this community and school with my whole heart. I believe in BALANCE and PERSPECTIVE and try to remember this everyday.
