I am very excited to join the Tarver Elementary staff as the Social Emotional Learning Specialist. Thank you voters for helping bring more Social Emotional Learning and mental health support to our schools as part of the ELEVATE initiative.
This is my 24th year in public education. I have worked with students grades kindergarten through high school as an elementary classroom teacher, elementary counselor, and high school counselor. I have a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Elementary Education and a Minor in Psychology and a Masters Degree in School Counseling K-12, both from the University of Northern Colorado.
In my role of Social Emotional Learning Specialist, I will be working on building school-wide culture and climate, coaching and partnering with teachers to support student social emotional learning needs, and working with students to identify and support their strengths and needs, such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
I have a sixth grade daughter who attended Tarver grades K-5 and love this community and school with my whole heart. My husband is a math teacher at Legacy High School. We enjoy skiing and traveling as a family. My hobbies include an obsession with grocery shopping and saving money, thrift store shopping, and running my daughter to and from competitive dance. I also enjoy reading, movies, and taking long walks. I value balance and perspective and try to remember this every day.
